Clear Aligner Basics
Clear Aligners are an orthodontic system that shifts your teeth into alignment with sequential sets of clear, plastic trays. The trays are comfortable and custom-fitted to your teeth, and they consistently produce esthetic smiles.
Patients are often uncomfortable wearing traditional metal braces, because traditional braces may irritate the soft tissues of the mouth. Metal braces are also more difficult to clean, as food can easily get stuck in the metal wiring. SureSmile, conversely, is designed to facilitate easy, frustration-free cleaning and maintenance. Additionally, one of the most commonly reported benefits of SureSmile is that aligners are virtually invisible and your peers will likely not even know that you are wearing them.
Patients wear aligners for 22 hours a day and remove them to brush and floss. Aligners may also be removed to eat, meaning that patients do not need to eliminate any of their favorite foods from their diet as they sometimes do with metal braces.
SureSmile treatment typically takes one year to complete. You will receive new sets of aligners every two weeks as your teeth gradually shift into the desired position.
