Veneer in front of someone's smile

Porcelain Veneers

Are worn, discolored, or damaged teeth causing you to hide your smile? Porcelain veneers are lifelike restorations that can conceal cosmetic flaws to completely transform your smile. Drs. Michael J. Appleton and Christopher Braud can expertly place your veneers in just two appointments at our Slidell, LA, practice.

Candidacy Factors Do You Meet the Requirements?

Most patients in good oral health looking to transform their smiles make good veneer candidates. Our dentists will examine your teeth and gums to determine your candidacy during your consultation at our Slidell practice.

Ideal veneer patients will meet the following requirements.

In Good Oral Health

Oral health is the most important candidacy factor. Tooth decay and gum disease may need to be treated before veneer placement.

Free of Teeth Grinding

While the porcelain used to create your dental veneers is durable, it is not indestructible. Teeth grinding (bruxism) can damage or wear down your new restorations. However, our dentists may be able to fit you with a custom oral appliance so you can still undergo veneer treatment.

No Severe Misalignment

Dental veneers are effective at treating minor misalignment issues. Patients with moderate-to-severe misalignment may need to seek orthodontic treatment before veneers can be placed.

Have Sufficient Enamel

Your teeth must be prepped before your porcelain veneers can be placed. Our dentists will remove a small amount of your natural tooth enamel to make space for the dental veneer. Patients with thin enamel may need to seek alternative treatment or consider our minimal prep veneers.

Ready for a Permanent Change

Veneers are an irreversible cosmetic dentistry treatment. Because a portion of your enamel will need to be removed before placement, you will always need a restoration on a treated tooth. Patients who are not ready to make that kind of commitment can talk with our dentists about alternative options like dental bonding.

Have You Been Told You Have Thin Enamel?
Ask Our Dentists About Minimal-Prep Veneers

Minimal prep veneers are thinner than the traditional option so our dentists will remove less enamel, if any, before placement. Your candidacy for minimal-prep veneers will depend on tooth size and space between your natural teeth. You can ask about our minimal-prep veneers during your consultation at our Slidell practice.

Dr. Appleton Explains the Process See Our Dramatic Transformations

Both Dr. Appleton and Dr. Braud can customize your veneers to correct your cosmetic flaws and create a gorgeous smile. Once your custom-designed veneer is placed, our dentists will make any adjustments for comfort. You can leave our office proud of your appearance after two simple appointments.

Achieve Your Dream Smile in Just Two Visits

During your consultation, our dentists will create your treatment plan and prepare you for what to expect. Porcelain veneers require at least two appointments over the course of about four to six weeks, but the process can take longer depending on the case.
The dental-grade porcelain gives your veneers a natural-looking sheen that will make them virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.
The dental-grade porcelain gives your veneers a natural-looking sheen that will make them virtually indistinguishable from your natural teeth.

Preparation

At your first appointment, our dentists will remove a very thin layer of enamel from the front of your teeth to create room for the veneer and prevent the enhancement from looking bulky and unnatural.

Impressions

Our Slidell office uses state-of-the-art technology to take digital impressions of your prepped teeth. We can also provide you with a wax-up model of your veneers to give you a preview of what your new smile will look like.

Fabrication

Our dentists will send your impressions to dental lab technicians who will create your veneers out of durable IPS e.max®. Your veneers will be specifically designed to match the shape and shade of your teeth.

Temporaries

Fabrication typically takes about four to six weeks. During that time, our dentists can provide temporary restorations so you can have a functioning smile while you wait.

Fitting

Once fabrication is complete, you will come back to our Slidell office for your second visit. Our dentists will check the fit of the veneers and make any necessary adjustments.

Bonding

Our dentists will lightly etch the front of your teeth to create a strong bonding surface.

Placement

Our dentists will attach your porcelain veneers with dental cement and a curing light to secure the bond. Once secure, you can leave our office with a gorgeous, rejuvenated smile.

Our State-of-the-Art Technology Creates Quicker and More Comfortable Visits

Our Slidell practice uses CEREC® Primescan to create detailed digital impressions of your teeth. The CEREC Primescan uses a scanner wand to take images of your mouth and build a virtual 3D model. This method is much more comfortable and convenient for our patients than traditional putty impressions.

Do You Want to Brighten Your Smile? Ask Us About Professional Teeth Whitening

Because veneers are created to match the color of your natural teeth, many patients choose to whiten their smiles first. Professional teeth whitening can dramatically lighten your teeth by several shades in just one appointment and set you up for an even brighter smile after veneer placement.
